On December 5, 2006, a check cleared for payment for several auction items sold by Mr. Mart Mazzo (zippomart@hotmail.com - eBay user "zippomart"); the check was mailed the day after the seller stated the grand total for all items. A month after the check cleared, an inquiry was sent to the seller, who responded with various excuses. The seller mentioned that eBay had closed his account; he also mentioned that he nearly sold the buyer's already paid-for items at a flea market. The items arrived in good condition on February 7, 2007, 64 days after the check cleared. The seller charged $17.03 for shipping, but the actual shipping cost was $7.30 for a reused box. One electronic message was sent to the seller, inquiring about the 220% markup in shipping. Mr. Mazzo sent two replies:
